OOC: Hey, all. Concerning "A New Life," I had said it required so many players and posts that I needed it on hold until yesterday. But since I have to revise an essay over the next two weeks, involving hauling out an entirely new bibliography (that's like two single spaced pages of book resources X___X ) of European photo history, I have to lol file for an extension.

The other concern however is that nobody has said yea or nay to whether they want to stay on in this rpg, despite my being strongly suspicious that more than one of you are finding it too overwhelming to continue.

So I want to reiterate: here is your chance, with no strings attached, to bow out of the rpg if you want to. Nobody will be disappointed, we can write out your character easily. Please DO NOT feel obligated to stay, ANY of you. Only stay on if you REALLY ENJOY this. There will always be opportunities for more rp's down the road. On the same token, all are quite welcome and enjoyed here!

Please comment in this journal stating whether you wish to stay on or not between now and my new date of freedom, December 11.

OOC:

Elise, Roxy, and Ruana:

After deliberating on it today, I decided that the multi-player rpg, while epic and amazing and everything I would hope for, is too much for me to juggle right now with my exams coming up next week. I have also noticed that I am not the only one in this rpg feeling a little stressed out by the time and effort that currently go into it.

So here is what I am going to do: I am going to officially request that the rpg PAUSE until December 1, at which point my exams will be completed.

On December 1, I will gladly resume the rpg as Xelloss, Rezo, and Zelgadiss.

BEtween now and then, I want everyone to SERIOUSLY consider whether you are enjoying this rpg, or if the format, volume of posts, and methods are causing you more stress than happiness. Everyone, please. Consider it, seriously, over the next week and a half.

If the latter is the case, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE: tell the rest of us in this journal that you would like to bow out. NOBODY will be angry at you or feel let down. I PROMISE. It would be much worse to make you do what you really, deep down, find too hassling. Everyone here is nice and mature and won't be upset. It will be easy to find a way to write any of the characters out. We can find a way. No one is locked into this. It's just for fun. So here is the opportunity to bow out with NO penalties whatsoever <3333.

Thanks for being understanding, all!

Last night I spoke to a member of this rpg who had considerable frustration with the current tapering-comment journal post layout. She said making a LJ community for our rpg, which apparently you can set for a single-line thread, with newest posts first, would be less confusing for her. I then spoke to another member of this rpg who has no difficulty with the current layout. I decided the fairest thing would be to put this up to a democratic vote among the four of us.

Poll #1482581 RPG Format
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 8

What is the rpg format that you would prefer we use for the Slayers: A New Life rpg, beginning December 2009?

View Answers

Current: A member's journal hosts the posts.
6 (75.0%)

New: We make a community, choose a moderator, and post to the community.
2 (25.0%)

I am also opening the floor for discussion of why you voted the way you did, IF you wish.

Let's please resolve this quickly. I personally was having no trouble with the layout, aside the volume of emails I received per night with replies, but I don't want to disregard problems anyone is having. I just don't have time for fixing things, so if things need to be fixed, I'd like to know if that's the majority vote in a timely manner. We're a small friendly group so this really shouldn't take too long.

Synopsis: Fibrizo is reborn for good as a human child, the adopted son of Rezo. Rezo lives at Seyruun Palace with Zelgadiss and Amelia, who are now married. Zelgadiss is partially cured but not fully, still fused with a rock golem.  Lina Inverse still holds a shard of Ruby-Eye Shabranigdo in her soul, and has been closer to Gourry to combat the resurrection of her shard. The trouble is, Lina is now pregnant with Gourry's child--the most unstable of all possible emotional situations.  In seven months' time, Shabranigdo is expected to be reborn from Lina, when she gives birth to her child, if she cannot somehow be separated from Shabranigdo.  The remaining retainers of the monster race, excepting Dynast Grausherra, no longer want their maker reborn and their world destroyed: the battle, to them, has become futile.  So Zelas and Dolphin have sent Xelloss to take Lina and Gourry to Seyruun and start work on repressing Shabranigdo inside her.  Surprise, surprise: the dragon race has the same goal, of saving the world from Lina's shard.  A neophyte priestess of the Water Dragon King, a young golden dragon named Razia, has been sent to plead with Rezo to help Lina.  Rezo agrees when Razia promises to help him cure Zelgadiss completely.  Xelloss goes to his forbidden golden dragon lover, Filia Ul Copt, for help keeping the inexperienced Razia from going haywire.  But what will be the result of all these conflicting forces trying to work together against a common enemy?

Roxy, Elise, and Ruana, now that our rpg encompasses four people each handling at least two characters (three in mine and four in Ruana's), I think it's time we established some basic rules of turn-taking, format, and etiquette, to diminish the incidents of accidentally missed posts and inboxes flooded with 16 messages per login (XD;;;; that's my sitch atm with this rpg lol, my school emails are being BURIED and that's not good).

Here are the rules I've come up with. This is a democracy so let me know if you want anything altered, or if you have any questions.

Guidelines:
1)  As often as possible, try to respond to MULTIPLE posts in ONE LARGE POST, instead of several shorter posts that can be more easily lost, overlooked, or that can inundate the email inboxes of other players.

2) When you hit reply, do so after reading EVERYONE'S newest post, to avoid having to delete a post you wrote before knowing the whole context of action.

3) Reply TO THE LAST REPLY MADE IN YOUR THREAD, NOT JUST TO THE CHARACTER INTERACTING WITH YOURS. Reply to ALL posts pertaining to your character AT THE SAME TIME by replying TO THE VERY LAST/MOST RECENT POST IN THE THREAD, REGARDLESS OF WHAT CHARACTER MADE THAT POST. This enables us all to have just one long smooth thread to track. It also reduces the maximum number of posts that everyone has to deal with
. ((For instance, say I post as Xelloss to Amelia higher up, then post as Xelloss to Fibrizo lower down, then as Xelloss to Gourry still lower down. Right there I've created the problem of three forking-off threads from the main thread, which unnecessarily complicates things, especially since all the action is in the same scene.))

4)The only exception to this rule is if two sub-threads are deliberately created by a player BECAUSE THERE IS MORE THAN ONE SCENE IN THE SAME ENTRY ((like how Ruana has posted as Fibrizo in Seyruun in one scenario and as Lina in the woods in another, in "A New Life Part 1")).  In that case you DO have to create separate posts because there is more than one SCENE.

4) MOST importantly: Everyone PLEASE TAKE ONLY ONE TURN PER ROUND.  You post ONCE and then you let ALL of the other players post once before posting again. In other words, you post ONE POST for EACH cast member you control, then let everyone else have ONE turn with each of THEIR cast members, before posting again. This is why rules 1-3 are so important. The current order appears to be Ruana, me, Roxy, repeat in the Seyruun scenario, and Ruana, Elise, repeat in the woods scenario. For now, please let's stick with that. It's impossible for anyone to post something of reasonable length and quality when they are getting literally six or seven more replies WHILE they are composing their new post. YOU CAN OF COURSE, WHEN YOUR TURN COMES, BACKTRACK IN TIME AND INSERT YOUR CHARACTER'S ACTION INTO THE PREVIOUS POSTS. Let's say Fibrizo strikes Zelgadiss with a spell. Zelgadiss and Rezo still get to post before Amelia, Lina, Gourry, Fibrizo, etc can. But once Zel and Rezo have posted, Amelia can retcon a little bit--she can have been "making this facial expression when Xelloss struck," or "reaching out to block the blow from Zelgadiss when Xelloss struck," etc, as long as she takes into account and reacts to the action that has already taken place. That way nobody misses out on any action they might have taken were the order of turns different.

THANKS!!!!!

Synopsis:  Having sacrificed his life to revive Zelgadiss's in the final battle in Sairaag, Fibrizo has been reborn as a human baby with no links to Shabranigdo.  In doing so, he has also  cured Zelgadiss of one half of his affliction, removing the brass demon from his chimera body.  Significant time has passed and now Zelgadiss has married Amelia, and invited Rezo and Fibrizo to live with them in Seyruun Palace.  For now, a fresh new life has been achieved. But that shard of Shabranigdo still lurks in Lina Inverse's soul.

Synoposis: Fibrizo has remembered his entire past as a mazoku, but remains conflicted between his mazoku soul and residual memories of happiness and acceptance with his "new father," Rezo, and "brother," Zelgadiss.  He decides to remain with them in hopes of being restored to a human state.  But Rezo is still trying to cure Zelgadiss, and tensions between Zelgadiss and Fibrizo seem inevitable as Zelgadiss, too, tries to come to terms with his relationship to Rezo.  Tragedy looms large on the horizon over the ruins of Rezo's old laboratory in Sairaag.

Synopsis: Fibrizo, still trapped in a human body thanks to Zelas Metallium, has lost his memory because of a scuff with Zelgadiss gone hostile.  He finds himself drawn toward the gentleness and care of the newly resurrected Rezo. In hopes of creating a sense of kindness and respect in Fibrizo while he is a human, Rezo has told Fibrizo that he is Fibrizo's adoptive father, that Zelgadiss is his adoptive older brother, and that Xelloss is his adoptive uncle.  Simultaneously Rezo hopes to reconcile with his great-grandson and cure him of the chimera body that Rezo himself, under Shabranigdo's influence, created. Meanwhile Lina comes to terms with the fact that a shard of Shabranigdo lies dormant in her soul and seeks Rezo's counsel for how to deal with the fact.  Things seem under control, but unfortunately, unlike Zelas and Deep Sea Dolphin, Dynast Grausherra still wishes to resurrect Shabranigdo and destroy Red Orb.  With attempts to resurrect Lei Magnus in Dynast's native north unsuccessful, Dynast now sends his general Sherra to recruit Lina and awaken the Ma-oh.
